Harry Potter

So I saw the new Harry Potter movie on Saturday. I think it was the best of the four. I'm amazed at how much of the book they squeezed into 2 1/2 hours. I also love that Fred and George Weasley had a lot of screentime. It was a good ramp-up for Fred and George stealing the show in the next one. The movie captured a lot of the normal teenage school dynamic that make the books so much fun. It didn't even come close to having 100% of the plot points but considering the time and budgetary constraints, they did well enough to keep the hard-core fans happy. Voldemort looked great. Really scary and freakish but not cartoonish. He looked even better than I'd pictured him reading the book. I didn't know Ralph Feinnes could play homicidal maniac so well. I do still think that Anthony Hopkins would've made a better Mad-Eye Moody but you can't have everything, I guess. The next movie should be pretty good. It's a long book but I don't think it would be that difficult to pare it down to 2 hours or so. There's a lot of details that are important to Half Blood Prince but a lot of that can be covered in the visuals and a few sentences of dialog here and there. Basically the important things that need to be covered are:
1. The DA
2. The meyhem inflicted on Umbridge by the Weasley twins (and their grand exit)
3. Sirius telling Harry about Regulus
4. Finding the locket while cleaning 12 Grimmald Place
5. The battle at the Ministry of Magic

Not too much to ask.

On the diet and exercise front, things are going pretty well. I didn't log my food over the weekend (shame on me) and ate way too much food at Disneyland (but then again, I was on my feet all day so it probably evened out.) I finally got the nerve to weigh myself. After 3 months of laziness and eating out way too much, I'm happy to report that I only gained 8 pounds (in reality it was probably only 3 or 4 pounds of fat since bodyweight fluctuates so much from day to day.) I'm definitely not back up to the strength or aerobic capacity I had when I was working out religiously but I'm getting back into the swing of things. I'm not worried. It's not like I have a time limit or anything.

The pieces are starting to fall into place

Life is almost starting to feel normal. Last night we actually ate dinner at the dining room table. What a concept! The only rooms left that look like they've been hit by a cardboard tornado are the master bedroom and the garage. On the diet and exercise front, I had a perfect day of eating yesterday but I didn't workout. I was just too sore. I'm just not in the shape I was in a few months ago and I overscheduled myself. I got my workout in this morning though and I feel great.

Here's my log for yesterday:

B: 1/2 c. oatmeal, 3 egg whites, 3/4 c. light soymilk, 1 tbsp. walnuts, banana
L: 2 c. salad, 2 slices veggie pizza
S: 2 rice cakes, 1 tbsp. peanut butter, 1 apple
D: 4 oz. filet, 2 tbsp. blue cheese, 1/2 c. roasted potatoes, 1 c. broccolli

All moved in

We're all moved into our house in San Diego. We're renting a great house in Rancho Bernardo. Sean got a job working for the Boy Scouts of America. He's a District Executive and he gets to go around getting boys to sign up, rounding up volunteers and getting people to donate money. It involves a lot of schmoozing so it's working out pretty well for him. I'm just starting to get my exercise groove back. I've been spending all of my time unpacking and assembling furniture this past week so I haven't gotten much exercise in. We're about 80% cardboard-free so now I don't feel so bad taking time out to exercise. Starting today I'm going to start logging my food again so I can really get back to cleaning up my diet. I did plan out my workout rotation from now till the end of the year. I'm focusing on Cardio and I've included 1 day rest and 1 day of outside activities with my family each week.
