Check out Sean's New Motorcycle

We spent Saturday afternoon at Escondido Cycle Center buying Sean a motorcycle. He's wanted one for about two years now and we finally went out and bought it.

Here it is in the back of Sean's truck when we brought it home:

Here's Sean getting ready to take it for a spin around the block:

He picked out a Kawasaki KLR 650, the only reasonably priced motorcycle that's tall enough for him.

Now I'm toying with the idea of getting a little scooter for my 2.5 mile commute. I was looking at this Honda Metropolitan in the store:

But it only goes about 35 mph so Sean didn't think it would be safe on a busy street. So now I'm thinking about getting a Genuine Buddy:

It tops out at about 60 mph and it gets 80 mpg (for my 5 mile round trip commute, I'd be able to go about 3 weeks on a gallon of gas.) Conveniently, there's a scooter dealer downtown that sells and services them. And it's pink and we all know that it's pinkness is far more important than any other quality. How cute would that be tooling around Rancho Bernardo? I'd have to get a pink helmet and a scarf, of course. And a little basket on the front for any stuff I need to carry. And a matching pink and white jacket. And some white gloves. It's all about the accessories. You can also get a seatcover for it. I haven't decided which one is cuter, the pink checks or the little skulls:

Anyway, that was my weekend. Oh, and I got highlights Saturday morning. It looks awesome but I don't have any pictures.

...and there was some sport on TV but whatever.

How much do I suck?

I just realized it's been two months since I've written in this thing. Well, I am a busy chick with a career and two kids. I know, excuses, excuses! Well, for Christmas, we drove to Colorado to surprise Sean's mom. Other than narrowly missing two blizzards, it was a fun trip. We went ice skating and it was my first time on skates ever. I really appreciate figure skating as a sport more, I'll tell you that much. I could barely stand up, let alone spin around with one foot over my head. The kids had a blast playing in the snow. Unfortunately, Greeley is pretty flat so there wasn't any good sledding. I find it hilarious that everyone who lives in Colorado is completely delusional. They claim it never snows there but I counted three people in my in-laws' neighborhood with snow blowers. If it "never snows", why would you own a snow blower?

So I started taking a class last week. It's Computer Simulation Applied to Systems Engineering. Pretty geeky stuff. The instructor actually talked about a government program that I worked on. It's a navy ship with lots of cool hardware-in-the-loop simulation that they can use for training and mission planning and stuff. Yep, I worked on that! *insert prideful gloating here*

I would like to take a moment to complain about my computer at work. It's a Dell and I'm pretty sure it was designed by monkeys. The USB port on the front is retarded. It's diagonal and upside down and I had to get on my hands and knees and put my head on the floor so I could see the hole to stick a thumb drive in it. A guy was walking by my cube and he goes, "You okay down there?" and I answered, "My computer is stupid!" and he said, "Yeah, I hear that a lot."

On the diet and exercise front, I'm doing alright. My weight is at a stand still but I'm trying not to let that get me down. I'm healthy and my husband thinks I'm hot so I should be okay with myself. Right now I'm focusing on choosing healthy foods to eat and working really hard on my exercise. I've decided that I'm not capable of running every other day since my knees pretty much suck so I'm trading out some of my running with step aerobics. For my weight workouts, I've upped my weights by a few pounds and my legs are totally fried right now and my arms feel like jell-o. It's all good though. Once I get used to it, I'll be fine (then I can up my weights again, yay!)

The family is doing pretty well. Sean quit his job with the Boy Scouts and took a job as an Director of Operations for an audiovisual company. He's working at a hotel, but for the audiovisual company. It's more money for less work so he's pretty happy and he's been home for dinner every night since he started. Oh, and we're buying him a motorcycle this weekend. He ordered a helmet since he can't find one in the store that's big enough for his head and it should be arriving at our house some time today. He's getting a Kawasaki KLR 650. He originally wanted to get a cruiser but he's just too tall. The KLR is a really tall motorcycle and it fits him perfectly. It's also a dual sport so he can take it off road.

The kids are doing great. Nick's taking drama at school. He LOVES it. I'm bummed that he didn't get to be in the orchestra this year but it's cool that he gets to try some new things. He got Lego Mindstorms for Christmas and he's been a robot-building maniac ever since. Now he wants to be an engineer and he wants me to teach him to program. *insert happy dance here* Emily has had a raging cough for the past week. She's also really enjoying band. She loves playing the clarinet and has a good ear for music.

Anyway, that's what's been going on with me.
