Back on the Exercise Wagon
I'm finally got my exercise mojo back. I worked out Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, I took Thursday off and I'm working out again tonight. Sean and I have been going to the gym together. We'd both like to lose a few more pounds before Christmas. Monday we did an an upper body circuit. Tuesday we did 45 minutes of steady state cardio on the treadmill (BTW, running on treadmills together is nice because we can run together and don't have to worry about keeping up with each other.) Then on Wednesday we went to spin class. Sean did really well considering it was only his second spin class. It's the only group exercise class he doesn't mind going to because it's almost half guys in there and it's just cycling together in a group as opposed to doing dorky dance moves in an aerobics class. I might convince him to try a kickboxing class sometime but the teacher would have to be really good (dorky dance moves do not belong in kickboxing class!) Tonight we're going to do a lower body circuit before our weekly date night.
My eating has been truly awesome lately. I haven't lost any weight because of it yet but I just need to be patient. I got a GREAT new cookbook called Veganomicon by Isa Chandra Moskowitz. I've been cooking out of it a lot this week and every recipe has been delicious. Wednesday night we had baja-style tempeh tacos (tempeh is an indonesian fermented soybeen cake that's lowfat, packed with protein and tastes kind of like mushrooms.) Tuesday we had chickpea cutlets with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and brussels sprouts. Monday we had homemade mushroom and red bell pepper pizza. Sunday we had samosa stuffed potatoes with sauteed spinach and tomatoes and peach chutney (I couldn't find any mangos in the store that day.) Saturday we had spaghetti and bean balls (who knew red kidney beans would make such amazing meatballs, even Emily, our resident bean hater couldn't get enough.)
Anyway, I'd love to reach my goal of losing another 9 pounds but I'd have to lose about 2 pounds a week to pull it off (I've never lost 2 pounds a week two weeks in a row.) I'll just keep working hard and if it happens great, and if it doesn't, I'm cool with getting there in early 2008.
